Patchwork by Access2Learn
From Understanding to Action
Patchwork is a comprehensive digital platform built by Access2Learn to help schools identify pupils’ needs early and put the right support in place. It brings together evidence-based screeners, personalised recommendations, strategy packs, student profiles, and service pathways into one accessible system.
It’s all about helping schools identify pupils’ needs early and put the right support in place with confidence, and we’re really excited about the difference it could make.
Patchwork has been developed by our team of teachers, SENCO, diagnostic assessors, specialist study skills tutors and a PhD researcher with decades of experience in EYFS – KS5.

At the heart of Patchwork is the Universal Learning Profile: a strengths-based, non-diagnostic screener and Learning Passport process for all pupils.
Patchwork captures pupil voice, teacher insight, and family input. It helps schools identify learning strengths, support preferences, functional barriers and emerging patterns of need across:
Literacy & Language
Motor Co-ordination
Attention & Executive Function
Numeracy
Social Communication
Emotional Wellbeing
Sensory Experience
Day-to-Day Functional Impact
Following screening, each pupil receives information outlining their strengths, learning preferences, and potential areas of need, alongside practical, easy-to-apply classroom strategies tailored to support them.
These strategies have been reviewed by an Ofsted Inspector, Occupational Therapists, Education psychologists, SENCOs and teachers to ensure they effectively meet the needs of both teachers, students and parents.
Patchwork is further supported by a comprehensive set of resources from Access2Learn for staff and families, including role-specific handbooks, guidance on needs and support strategies, parent-friendly advice, practical worksheets and intervention tools, and access to additional services such coaching, counselling, tutoring, and assistive technology training.
Overall, Patchwork enables a more proactive and informed approach, helping schools reduce guesswork, intervene earlier, and support pupils’ emotional, social, and academic development more effectively.
